Midwife in California and Nevada

I believe that our first and most important relationship is
with our Mother.
That tie is the first sacred hoop, or the first relationship with the most impact, that we experience in our lives.
I am committed to preserving the health, beauty and strength of this primary bond between Mother and Baby through homebirth.

(LM146) in the state of California and a Certified Professional Midwife.  I support pro-midwife and pro-family legislation.  I am a member of CAM (California Association of Midwives ) and MANA (Midwives Alliance of North America).   My experience includes over 310 births.

Experience

My training and experience as a midwife and an assistant midwife consists of many aspects.  After witnessing my roommate's two homebirths, one in 1981 and one in 1983, I was so impressed by the experiences, I knew someday that I would also give birth at home.  After the homebirth of my own daughter in 1992, I began the apprenticeship/ self-study path.  I have taken Alison Osborn's six-week apprenticeship workshops several times, as well as completed a six-month advanced midwifery course.  I completed my internship at Casa de Nacimiento in El Paso, Texas in 2001.  I have apprenticed with mentor midwives for several years.  I presently hold and maintain a current Health Care Provider class CPR card and Neonatal Resusicitation Certificate.  I am a Licensed Midwife

My Philosophy

My philosophy of practice is that a woman's body is able to grow, deliver and nurse a baby.  Midwifery care should be satisfying for the family and the midwife.  Trust develops over time and trust helps this natural process to unfold.  I encourage women and their partners to take an active role in decision-making throughout their
pregnancy and birth.
